Job Description
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs related to construction projects. This includes estimating, budgeting, cost control, billing, and ensuring that projects are completed within the approved budget while maintaining quality and contractual compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates based on drawings and specifications
- Prepare BOQs, budgets, and cost plans for projects
- Monitor project costs and control expenditures to avoid overruns
- Prepare and verify running account (RA) bills and final bills
- Measure and certify subcontractor and vendor bills
- Handle contract administration, variations, and change orders
- Coordinate with site engineers for accurate measurements and progress tracking
- Prepare material reconciliation statements
- Assist in tendering, rate analysis, and vendor comparisons
- Maintain proper documentation related to billing, contracts, and approvals
- Support audits and management reporting
Required Skills and Qualification
- Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying
- 5–15 years of experience in construction (residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects)
- Strong knowledge of estimation, billing, and cost control
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Proficiency in MS Excel and billing/estimation software (e.g., AutoCAD, Primavera, or similar)
- Good communication and negotiation skills
